Compliance submissions during the onboarding process allow Fruugo to verify that retailers are meeting product quality, safety and packaging standards.
Retailers provide evidence for products that they manufacture in-house or obtain from a third-party manufacturer.
The information provided shows Fruugo that retailers understand the requirements needed according to their catalogue and country presence.
The Retailer Portal notifies you in relation to potential product visibility restrictions in our marketplace when GPSR information is missing.
You must complete three types of catalogue compliance in order to complete your account’s integration:
1. EPR
Retailers must comply with Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), a legal obligation for trading in some countries.
EPR covers primary (product) and secondary (shipping) packaging and post-purchase elements, such as waste disposal and recycling.
All affected products must have EPR submissions to fully comply with the country-specific obligations.
You will need to provide EPR information from the responsible producer organisation during the integration.
Failure to provide EPR information may prevent products from going live in certain countries.
Applications
Shipping cost configurations for France, Germany and/or Ireland within the Shipping Management module of the Retailer Portal require EPR information.
The three countries stated above require tax and registration number submissions.
All other countries are exempt from requiring EPR compliance submissions.
Requirements
When displaying your products in France, you must submit the Unique Identification Number (UIN) and Tax Number for the following:
- Packaging
- Electrical and electronic equipment (EEE)
- Batteries
- Textiles
- Furniture
- Tires
- Toys
- Printed paper
- Sports and leisure articles
- Chemicals
- Mineral or synthetic
- Lubricating or industrial oils
- DIY and garden items
- Construction products or materials
We need the LUCID ID and Tax Number for packaging, batteries, and electrical appliances (WEE) in Germany.
For Ireland, submit the Registration ID for packaging, batteries, waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE), tyres, and farm plastics.
Submissions
Submit EPR information for France, Germany and/or Ireland via the EPR module in the Compliance section of the Retailer Portal.
Our Compliance team will inform you of any approvals via email.
You can submit different EPR information if our Compliance team rejects the previous submission.
We may ask you to deactivate the shipping cost configuration for France if you do not provide any EPR information.
2. Restricted Categories
Fruugo prevents unauthorised products from going live on the website.
This is due to the sensitive nature and potential uses of some products in a retailer’s catalogue.
Other reasons include product legality, safety and quality, copyright infringement and counterfeit goods.
Only approved retailers can distribute products belonging to restricted categories to customers.
Documentation supports certain products within the product data to prove they are legal and authentic items which follow regulatory standards.
Applications
Products mapped to a restricted category require supporting documentation or they will remain inactive.
Affected categories include vitamins and supplements, baby and children’s toys, and cosmetics sets.
A Data Integration Specialist will highlight any affected product categories during the data validation process.
Requirements
Documentation is supporting evidence of your right to sell restricted products.
You will be able to submit documentation from your supplier as part of your application to sell restricted products.
The types of documents that Fruugo can accept are:
- An invoice which shows the purchase of the products sold from a named manufacturer or authorised distributor
- Images of the product, product packaging and/or accompanying documentation to ensure the product meets labelling requirements
- A declaration of conformity (DoC) that shows the products meet all relevant requirements and legislation
- A product safety certificate produced by a third party
- A registration or validation document for any affected products and/or substances approved for sale
- A technical product safety file detailing the product risk assessment, test reports, list of parts, manufacturer contact information, etc.
Submissions
We will notify you of the affected categories in your product data via email.
It is your responsibility to submit the relevant documentation upon request.
Our Compliance team accepts or rejects the documentation based on its relevancy and accuracy.
3. GPSR
General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR) requires retailers to submit additional information for non-food products displayed in certain countries.
There are two forms of GPSR information – contact and safety.
Contact information requires the person or entity that is responsible for the brand or manufacturer of a product.
Safety information is the labelling and certification of products to ensure their compliance with European Union safety regulations.
Products with missing or inaccurate GPSR information will not go live in countries where GPSR applies.
Applications
We require safety information for products mapped to specific categories only.
Contact information is mandatory regardless of the category mappings in the product data.
The product issue/error report flags missing GPSR information.
Shipping cost configurations for Ireland, Norway, Switzerland and all European Union countries require GPSR contact and safety information.
Shipping to non-European countries, Russia and/or the United Kingdom does not require GPSR contact and safety information.
Requirements
Choose brand or manufacturer only for all of the contact information in the CSV file upload.
Provide the name and contact details of the brand or manufacturer of all products present in the product data.
Submit a nominated responsible person based in the European Union for the contact information.
You cannot provide brand contact information for the CSV file upload if you mark a product as ‘Unbranded’.
Include Safety Warnings, CE Mark and Ingredients safety information when you map products to the mandatory categories.
Serial Number, Manufacturer Part Number, Model Number and Batch Number safety information is optional.
We require Safety Attestation information when you map products to a mandatory category that does not require Safety Warnings information.
Submissions
The Compliance module in the Retailer Portal permits CSV file uploads for feed-based and API integrations.
Submit GPSR contact information as a CSV file via the GPSR section of the Compliance module for all integration types.
You can populate the Attribute 1-10 fields with safety information in the product feed URL for feed-based integrations.
A safety information CSV file upload is also possible for feed-based integrations.
Retailers cannot populate the Attribute1-10 fields in the product feed URL and upload a safety information CSV file simultaneously.
Upload safety information as a CSV file in the Safety section of the Compliance module for API integrations.
The Attribute1-10 fields must be mapped to the correct safety information names in the Retailer Portal for CSV file uploads.
A Data Integration Specialist will confirm your submissions as approved or rejected.
